CVE-2020-10611Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via Data Set type confusion

Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Type confusion in Triangle MicroWorks SCADA Data Gateway 2.41.0213 through 4.0.122 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The GTWLib.dll Data Set update path fails to verify that an element's type is unchanged, then treats an attacker-controlled value as a pointer for realloc. Authentication is not required, but DNP3 Data Sets must be enabled; exploitation hijacks control flow in the SYSTEM context.
