Remote code execution via unsanitized backup filename
Published Apr 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in Advantech WebAccess/NMS before 3.0.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through ManualDBBackup. The ManualDBBackup endpoint passes the user-controlled filenamebknow value to a system call without validation. Authentication is nominally required but bypassable, and successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied code as SYSTEM.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
