CVE-2020-10601

Local password bypass via weak hashes and permissions

Published Apr 3, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Weak password protection in VISAM VBASE Editor 11.5.0.2 and VBASE Web-Remote allows local users to bypass access controls. The products store password hashes with inadequate cryptographic strength and permissions that permit local modification, enabling offline cracking or direct hash replacement. Local low-privileged access is required; success bypasses the password-protected mechanism without learning the original password.
