User-context code execution via object memory corruption
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Memory corruption in Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 and 11 allows remote attackers to execute code through the VBScript engine. The engine writes outside an object's valid memory bounds while handling crafted script objects, corrupting memory used during execution. Exploitation requires the current user to visit crafted web content or open content hosted by the IE engine, and resulting code receives that user's rights.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
