Gateway crash via premature VideoCall session frees
Published Mar 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Race condition in Janus VideoCall through 0.9.1 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the gateway during session changes. The plugin binds sessions to registered usernames and can free session references too early or multiple times when lifecycle operations race. Reachability requires the VideoCall plugin and concurrent user-driven session changes; a resulting crash interrupts calls handled by the gateway.
