Remote service crash via logger-name validation typo
Published Mar 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL-pointer dereference in Janus through 0.9.1 allows remote attackers to crash the service through a query_logger Admin API request. The query_logger schema mistakenly requires a handler field, then janus.c retrieves the absent logger field and passes its null string value into the logger lookup. The request needs network access to the Admin API but no authenticated privileges; a successful request terminates the Janus service without a reported data-access or code-execution consequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
