Remote code execution via coerced nonce comparison
Published Mar 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
CSRF in WPML before 4.3.7-b.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code through forged plugin-installation requests. The download_plugin_ajax_handler function loosely compares a caller-supplied numeric nonce with the generated WordPress nonce, enabling type coercion after repeated guesses. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to open an attacker-controlled page; successful requests install and expose a malicious plugin.
