Remote code execution via unchecked image extension
Published Mar 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper input validation in Responsive Filemanager 9.14.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code. The ajax_calls.php save_img action accepts a .php name for a JPEG containing PHP in EXIF data and writes the resulting file beneath the upload directory. A valid Filemanager dialog session is required; requesting the written file causes the server to run the embedded code.
