JavaScript execution via unescaped tooltip title
Published Mar 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in PrimeTek PrimeFaces 7.0.11 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted tooltip title. tooltip/tooltip.js bindTarget reads the target element's title and renders it without enabling the escaping applied by bindGlobal. An application must place attacker-controlled input in that title, and script execution occurs in a user's browser when the tooltip appears.
