Article-template modification via missing CSRF protection
Published Mar 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Chadha PHPKB Standard Multi-Language 9 allows remote attackers to modify article templates through a superuser's browser. The admin/edit-template.php handler accepts session-bearing POST fields, including a template id, without validating an anti-CSRF token. Exploitation requires a logged-in superuser to load attacker-controlled content; the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized modification of template content and visibility.
