News article edits via CSRF in admin/edit-news.php
Published Mar 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Chadha PHPKB Standard Multi-Language 9 allows remote attackers to edit news articles via crafted requests. The admin/edit-news.php endpoint accepts a request containing a chosen article id without validating an anti-CSRF token, so a malicious page can cause a victim's authenticated browser to submit the edit. Exploitation requires a logged-in user to load attacker-controlled content; the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized modification of article content, with no evidence of confidentiality or availability impact.
