Arbitrary script execution via stored Referer header
Published Mar 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in PHPKB Standard Multi-Language 9 allows remote attackers to run script in a superuser's browser through a crafted Referer header. Knowledgebase_Analytics stores the URL-encoded Referer, and admin/include/operations.php decodes its host and inserts it into report-referrers.php without output filtering. No account is needed to plant the header, but execution requires a superuser to open the referrer report, exposing that privileged browser session to attacker-controlled script.
