Weak password protection in New Media Smarty before 9.10 allows local users to recover stored passwords from the data.mdb database. The second column of data.mdb stores passwords using an obfuscation method that is easily reversed rather than a one-way password hash. Exploitation requires local access to the database file and can disclose credentials, without evidence of modifying records or interrupting service.
