Keyboard activity inference via SECI side channel
Published Nov 10, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Information disclosure in certain Cypress and Broadcom Wireless Combo chips allows attackers to identify Bluetooth keyboard keypress packets. The Wi-Fi core analyzes timing and content on the Serial Enhanced Coexistence Interface to distinguish Bluetooth packets containing keypress activity, while the packets themselves expose no key data. Exploitation requires access to the Wi-Fi core and precise SECI observation, so the bounded consequence is disclosure of keyboard activity rather than typed content.
