CVE-2020-10262Public exploit

Root shell access via serial-derived failsafe password

Published Apr 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Privilege escalation in Xiaomi XiaoAI Speaker Pro LX06 1.58.10 allows physically proximate attackers to obtain a root shell. The boot-time failsafe mi_console derives the root password from the serial number printed on the device instead of requiring a secret credential. Physical access during boot is required; root access exposes stored Wi-Fi and dialogue data and permits recording, system modification, service shutdown, IR transmission, and SSH or Telnet backdoors.
