Unauthenticated image access via preview bypass
Published Feb 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper access control in ownCloud Server before 10.4 allows remote attackers to view password-protected image previews via public links. The preview-image endpoint omitted access-control enforcement, allowing retrieval when an attacker knows the public-link hash and original filename. Exploitation requires no account but does require those link details; the demonstrated impact is limited to disclosure of the protected image.
