Unauthorized template image actions via missing CSRF checks
Published Mar 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Joomla! CMS 3.2.0 through 3.9.15 allows remote attackers to invoke template image actions. The com_templates image-action handlers process requests without validating a CSRF token, so a forged request is accepted under the victim's session. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to open attacker-controlled content; actions run with that user's permissions, but Joomla has not specified the reachable image operations or effects.
