Authenticated code execution via unchecked package markup
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Remote code execution in Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 SP1, Server 2016, and Server 2019 allows remote authenticated users to run code. Application-package processing fails to validate source markup before accepting a specially crafted package. An account able to upload a SharePoint application package is required, and execution occurs as the application pool and server farm account.
