Remote command execution via dns_query_name injection
Published Mar 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DIR-825 Rev.B 2.10 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted dns_query.cgi POST request. The dns_query_name parameter is incorporated into the router's DNS query handling without adequate neutralization, permitting shell command injection; the same issue affects TRENDnet TEW-632BRP 1.010B32. Exploitation requires network access to the device's HTTP interface, and successful execution can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
