CVE-2020-10187Network attack vector

Client-secret disclosure via unrestricted application serialization

Published May 4, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Information disclosure in affected Doorkeeper 5.x releases allows remote authenticated users to retrieve OAuth application client secrets. The authorized-applications JSON endpoint passes application records to Application#as_json, which serializes unrestricted attributes and substitutes the plaintext secret without verifying that the requester owns each application. Exploitation requires the authorized-applications controller to be enabled and an account that has authorized an application; the exposed data includes application-model attributes and client secrets.
