Unauthenticated API execution via PathInfo authorization bypass
Published Dec 29, 2020 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Authentication bypass in SolarWinds Orion Platform 2020.2 allows remote attackers to execute API commands via crafted URL paths. Orion Core processes attacker-controlled Request.PathInfo values containing Skipi18n or resource-handler suffixes as authentication exceptions, setting SkipAuthorization for protected requests. Network access to the web server is sufficient; affected releases also include 2019.4 and 2020.2.1, and demonstrated administrator code execution chains this bypass with a separate flaw.
