Unauthenticated service crash via malformed WebSocket messages
Published Mar 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper input validation in Zammad 1.0.x through 3.2.0 allows remote attackers to crash the WebSocket service with non-JSON messages. The WebSocket server parses each message without first validating its JSON format and leaves resulting parsing errors unhandled. No authentication or user interaction is required; a malformed message terminates the service process without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
