CVE-2020-10067

Kernel code execution via wrapped buffer-end check

Published May 11, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Integer overflow in Zephyr RTOS 1.14.1 and 2.1.0 allows local users to bypass syscall checks and execute code in the kernel. The ARM is_in_region helper computes start plus size minus one without first verifying that the unsigned addition remains in range, so a wrapped end address passes buffer validation. A malicious userspace application must invoke an affected system call from a user thread; successful exploitation can crash the device, disclose data, corrupt memory, or execute kernel code.
