CVE-2020-10065

Memory corruption via unchecked HCI ACL length

Published May 24, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in Zephyr RTOS 1.14.2 and 2.2.0 through 2.7.0 allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt memory via SPI. The bt_spi_rx_thread function trusts the 16-bit length in an HCI ACL header and passes it to net_buf_add_mem, copying SPI data into a fixed receive buffer that is 77 bytes by default. A compromised radio chip or an attacker able to inject raw SPI traffic can crash the application chip; code execution has not been demonstrated.
