CVE-2020-0980

Code execution via undisclosed memory corruption

Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Memory corruption in Microsoft Word and related Office services allows attackers to execute code through crafted document content. Microsoft states only that Word mishandles objects in memory and has not disclosed the affected parser, object type, or unsafe operation. Client-side exploitation requires user interaction; the public record does not explain how hosted Office and SharePoint products reach the same vulnerable code path.
