Session data access via unsanitized web request
Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Microsoft SharePoint 2013 SP1, 2016, and 2019 allows remote authenticated users to run script via a crafted web request. The request-processing path fails to sanitize attacker-controlled input before emitting it into a SharePoint page; Microsoft has not disclosed the affected endpoint or parameter. Exploitation requires authenticated access and victim interaction with the crafted content, enabling script to read or alter data available in the victim's SharePoint session.
