Authenticated code execution via ExcelDataSet deserialization
Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SP2, 2013 SP1, 2016, and 2019 allows remote authenticated users to run arbitrary code. The PerformancePoint Scorecards client module instantiates an ExcelDataSet control that deserializes untrusted data from application-package source markup. Authentication and permission to upload a crafted SharePoint application package are required, and code runs in the SharePoint web-server process.
