Cross-site scripting via unsanitized web request
Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 SP1, 2016, and 2019 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via crafted web requests. SharePoint fails to sanitize specially crafted requests before rendering affected pages, allowing injected script to run in a victim's browser. Exploitation requires victim interaction; the script runs with that user's permissions and can read data or perform permitted actions.
