Authenticated code execution via unchecked package markup
Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in affected Microsoft SharePoint releases allows remote authenticated users to run code via a crafted application package. SharePoint fails to validate the source markup embedded in the package before processing the uploaded application content. An authenticated account capable of submitting an application package is required, and successful exploitation executes code in the SharePoint server context.
