Elevation of privilege in Microsoft Defender Antivirus Antimalware Platform 4.18.2001.111 and earlier allows local users to take control. The platform mishandles attacker-created hard links during a privileged file operation, redirecting the operation to overwrite a targeted file. Exploitation requires an authenticated local session and execution of a crafted application; the overwrite grants elevated control of the system.
