System hang via specially crafted local application
Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in Microsoft Windows allows local users to hang affected systems by running a specially crafted application. Microsoft identifies improper handling of in-memory objects but has not disclosed the affected component, object type, or erroneous operation. The user must first log on and execute the application; exploitation stops the system from responding without direct code execution or privilege elevation.
