Local file disclosure via external XML entities
Published Mar 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
XML external entity injection in Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager 2.7 allows attackers to read local files through crafted RDG input. The RDG file loader parses an external entity reference in attacker-controlled XML and resolves it against files accessible to the RDCMan process. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted file, and disclosure is limited to files readable under that user's context.
