CVE-2020-0703

Local privilege escalation via mishandled file operations

Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Elevation of privilege in Microsoft Windows Backup Service allows local users to gain higher privileges through crafted file operations. The service improperly handles file operations, but Microsoft has not disclosed the affected routine or precise validation failure. The attacker must first gain code execution on the system and run a crafted application; successful exploitation elevates privileges on the host.
