Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked fragment index
Published Jan 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019 RD Gateway allows remote attackers to execute code via UDP. The UDP reassembly handler accepts fragment_id values above its 64-entry tracking array and writes TRUE beyond that array. No authentication or user interaction is required; reachability requires enabled RD Gateway UDP transport, normally on UDP/3391, and successful exploitation runs code with SYSTEM privileges.
