Remote information disclosure via HEVC conversion overflow
Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in Android Media Framework in Android 10 and Android 11 allows remote attackers to disclose memory during media processing. The hevcd_fmt_conv_420sp_to_420sp_av8 routine writes beyond a heap buffer while converting semi-planar HEVC frames. Exploitation requires user interaction and exposes process memory without granting code execution or data modification.
