Remote memory disclosure via unchecked Daala bitstream
Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Android 10's media framework allows remote attackers to disclose media-server memory through crafted media. The DaalaBitReader constructor in entropy_decoder.cc reads beyond the input buffer because it fails to check available bitstream bounds. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-supplied media; the documented consequence is memory disclosure, not code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
