CVE-2020-0195Network attack vector

Remote memory disclosure via uninitialized HEVC buffers

Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Information disclosure in Android 10's HEVC media decoder allows remote attackers to read uninitialized memory through crafted media. The ihevcd_iquant_itrans_recon_ctb path and SSE intra-prediction routines use stack byte arrays without zero-initializing them before reconstruction reads their contents. Exploitation requires a user to process attacker-supplied media; the disclosed consequence is memory disclosure without code execution or data modification.
