Remote media-processing hang via malformed HEVC slice
Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Infinite-loop denial of service in Google Cloud Android 10's media framework allows remote attackers to hang media processing via a crafted HEVC file. When a frame's first decoded slice is dependent, the decoder copies a prior slice header that does not exist instead of rejecting the slice, allowing ihevcd_ref_list() to loop indefinitely. No privileges are required, but a user must process the crafted media; the resulting hang interrupts media service availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
