Local information disclosure via unchecked EXIF tag size
Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Android 10 libexif allows local users to disclose process memory through malformed EXIF Make or Model tags. The exif_entry_get_value function compares undefined or unterminated Make and Model data with constant strings without first validating the entry size. No user interaction or additional execution privileges are required; the demonstrated consequence is local information disclosure.
