Remote information disclosure via Opus header integer overflow
Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Android 10's media framework allows remote attackers to disclose process memory through a crafted Opus file. GetOpusHeaderBuffers in OpusHeader.cpp performs overflow-prone size arithmetic and accepts an invalid codec-specific-data size, allowing a read beyond the supplied buffer. Exploitation requires no privileges but requires user interaction with the crafted media, and the reported consequence is limited to information disclosure.
