Local privilege escalation via unchecked NFC buffer
Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 10's NXP NFC HAL allows local users with System privileges to escalate privilege through compromised firmware. phNxpNciHal_NfcDep_cmd_ext in phNxpNciHal_NfcDepSWPrio.cc writes beyond its intended buffer because it omits a bounds check. Exploitation requires already-compromised device firmware and System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can elevate local privilege.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
