Local memory disclosure via unchecked Parcel reads
Published May 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 8.0, 8.1, 9, and 10 allows local users with System privileges to read uninitialized process data. BnCrypto::onTransact in drm/libmediadrm/ICrypto.cpp accepts short CREATE_PLUGIN Parcel reads without checking errors, then passes incompletely initialized UUID or opaque buffers to createPlugin. Exploitation requires local System execution privileges and no user interaction; exposure is limited to memory disclosure from the privileged media process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
