CVE-2020-0083Network attack vector

Remote Wi-Fi disconnection via overwritten PMF default

Published Mar 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Denial of service in Android 10 Wi-Fi supplicant logic allows remote attackers to interrupt wireless connectivity without user interaction. The setRequirePmfInternal function in sta_network.cpp wrote the per-network ieee80211w option as disabled whenever PMF was not explicitly required, overriding the global PMF default instead of leaving it in control. A network advertising mandatory protected management frames reaches this unauthenticated path, and the resulting policy mismatch prevents the device from connecting rather than exposing or modifying data.
