CVE-2020-0080

Local privilege escalation via premature indicator removal

Published Apr 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Elevation of privilege in Android 10 SystemUI allows local users to hide an active app-overlay indicator after user interaction. AppOpsControllerImpl sends an end-of-use callback when either the active or noted record ends without checking whether the other remains in use. An application running with User privileges must induce both states; premature indicator removal enables deceptive overlay activity on the device.
