Location-history disclosure via persisted per-SSID MAC mappings
Published Mar 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 10 WifiConfigManager allows local users with System privileges to read retained Wi-Fi location history. The initial release persists per-SSID randomized MAC mappings instead of deriving them from the SSID and an on-device secret, leaving visited-network identifiers in device storage. Exploitation requires local System execution privileges and no user interaction; the retained history remains until a factory reset.
