Unauthenticated file disclosure via Autodiscover external entity expansion

Published May 29, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

XXE in Synacor Zimbra Collaboration Suite mailboxd allows remote attackers to read server files via crafted Autodiscover XML. In affected 8.7.x releases before 8.7.11p10, the Autodiscover Servlet resolves attacker-supplied external entities and returns local file contents, including localconfig.xml credentials. Exploitation requires network access to the servlet but no authentication or user interaction; code execution in the published exploit chain additionally relies on a separate ProxyServlet SSRF flaw.
