CVE-2019-9104Network attack vector

Administrative credential disclosure via cleartext configuration storage

Published Mar 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Cleartext password storage in Moxa MGate MB3xxx firmware allows remote attackers to obtain administrative credentials via configuration files. The configuration-file serializer stores password-valued parameters as cleartext across the affected gateway series instead of protecting them at rest. Moxa does not disclose how remote attackers obtain the file; exposure enables subsequent administrative account use.
