Code execution via inherited-property traversal
Published Mar 25, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Code execution in Elastic Kibana Timelion before 5.6.15 and 6.6.1 allows remote attackers to run commands via crafted expressions. The unflatten function in Timelion's props.js follows inherited properties while expanding attacker-controlled property paths, allowing writes into object prototypes. Exploitation requires access to enabled Timelion, and resulting commands run with the Kibana process's permissions.
