CVE-2019-5623Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated root command execution via MPIPE2 injection

Published Apr 29, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

OS command injection in Accellion File Transfer Appliance FTA_8_0_540 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands over UDP. The UDP service on port 8812 accepts messages encrypted with shipped, guessable Blowfish keys, and the matchrep insert_plugin_meta_info function passes the expiry_time field to system() without neutralizing shell syntax. No account is required; successful exploitation runs commands as soggycat, which can invoke the primary administration tool as root.
