Code execution via oversized FTP LIST response
Published Apr 29, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Stack buffer overflow in AASync 2.2.1.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted FTP LIST response. Its FTP client copies an oversized directory-listing filename into a fixed stack buffer, overwriting the SEH record during LIST-response processing. Exploitation requires the Windows client to connect to an attacker-controlled FTP server and request a directory listing; successful exploitation runs code in the client process.
